Hans' story
During my teenage years, I developed a keen interest in photography, film, and video. This passion eventually led me to create a documentary, which, in turn, granted me admission to an Advanced Television Production course in Dunedin, where I successfully graduated in 2003. Shortly thereafter, I secured a position filming news for the local news station, Channel 9 News.

In 2006, I relocated to Wellington and assumed a casual role at TVNZ, primarily filming parliamentary proceedings. In 2008, I accepted an offer to work for 3 News (Newshub), in Auckland to capture stories for various news shows.
After approximately 12 years of dedicated work in the news industry, I decided to embark on a freelancing career in 2017.

Following this decision, I assumed a role as the behind-the-scenes camera operator for the media department at Weta Workshop. In 2019, I transitioned to establishing a small video production business, catering to fellow small businesses, alongside freelancing as a camera operator for previous clients, including Weta.

Presently, Hans Weston Films is in its sixth year of operation, serving a diverse clientele ranging from small businesses and charities to larger organizations, government entities, and documentary productions.

At the core of my business philosophy are values centered around fostering community, enhancing communication, forging connections, and promoting collaboration.
